Guided tour of KTH Campus

Behind the familiar grand brick façade north of Valhallavägen, marking the entrance to KTH, lies an area as large as Gamla Stan, dedicated to science.

When KTH’s new campus was inaugurated in 1917, it housed Northern Europe’s most modern research laboratory, featured artistic decorations by some of the era’s most renowned artists, and was one of Sweden’s largest infrastructure projects. Today, KTH proudly boasts international recognition for its sustainable campus plan, and the new School of Architecture received the Kasper Salin Prize in 2015.

During the one-hour tour, participants will gain insight into the architecture with its artistic embellishments, KTH’s history, and hear anecdotes from over 100 years at the Valhallavägen campus. KTH’s campus guides will share stories about architect Professor Erik Lallerstedt’s vision for future engineers who “learn to understand that, alongside concrete and gears, there exists a world that cannot be measured with a compass or ruler,” and about KTH today, Sweden’s foremost technical university.

The tour includes stairs and cobblestones, and is mostly outdoors – so dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes!
